At Legacy Firearms Co we specialize in appendix carry holsters. There are a multitude of benefits to appendix carry that no other carry position can do as well but with that comes having to make sure you live and breathe by the firearm safety rules. If you haven't had someone tell you that "you'll shoot your dick off" you obviously haven't been on social media lately. Carrying a firearm is only as dangerous as the person behind the trigger. Be sure to keep your finger out of the trigger guard area, ensure that nothing is in the holster as you return the firearm to it, and be sure you always make sure that you haven't modified your firearm in a way that has deactivated any safety mechanisms. One huge benefit to appendix carry first and foremost is that it is actually safer than other carry positions due to the fact that you can see into the holster as you put the firearm in. Unlike strongside carry you can see down into the holster and ensure that nothing has gotten inside such as clothing. The next complaint that often comes with appendix carry is that it is uncomfortable to sit. There's only one piece of advice to fix that...PULL UP YOUR PANTS. If your firearm is sitting below where your waistline bends you will quickly feel everything dig in and cause instantaneous pain. It takes nothing more than pulling up your pants an inch or two as you sit down to fix this. So now that we've talked about some of the drawbacks of appendix carry let's talk about why it is the best carry position:
- ACCESS: There is absolutely no faster place to draw your firearm from than from appendix carry. With both hands usable in this position you can clear your cover garments with your support hand and draw with your dominant hand. Any other position you truly only have one hand to do all of that with
- CONCEALMENT: Remember that first time you put a firearm on with that cheap holster that the gun salesman behind the counter sold you and you wondered how you'd ever be able to actually "conceal" carry? Appendix carry fixes that. Being flat against the front of your body your firearm won't have the grip sticking out showing everyone what you're packing
- SAFETY: One of the most dangerous parts of carrying a firearm everyday is holstering it. It's when the most negligent discharges happen and usually it's due to unsafe holsters or unsafe practices. With appendix carry you're able to clear your cover garments completely, make sure there is nothing inside the holster, and safely place your firearm in. With soft sided holsters and hybrids they collapse and wear down overtime and can cause the material to get into the trigger guard. Not a problem you'll have with kydex.
So what model do we recommend for appendix carry? As the owner of Legacy Firearms Co I'll tell you my experiences with my 3 favorites and what 3 holsters are in my rotation and why.
THE CRONUS
The Cronus is my go to when I'm running up to the store really quick and need something fast and easy to throw on. The quick clip is secure to the belt and extremely easy to take on and off. If you're looking for something more secure I'd recommend the Vega. I always recommend the concealment claw and they come standard on nearly all of our holsters. The claw aids in pushing the grip of the firearm into your body so that it's not pushing out and showing the world that you're carrying.

APPENDIX CARRY RIGS - LEGACY VS. HYPERION
This has been a question often asked...which one is better? The answer truly isn't that simple when it comes to appendix carry rigs. The benefit that we find to appendix carry rigs over standalone holsters is they conceal better and balance better all while providing you with that backup magazine that you hope you never need but doesn't hurt to have. The Legacy was our first appendix carry rig that we came out with and it still has some benefits over the Hyperion. It has a slightly smaller footprint for one but not extremely noticeable. The middle of the holster in between the firearm and magazine is curved to help the grip of the firearm and magazine push into the body. This provides for the best concealment of any holster that we offer today, however that bend doesn't work for everyone. In steps the Hyperion. With shockcord in the middle the Hyperion flexes to your body rather than being forced. While this may be more comfortable for many it doesn't conceal quite as well but still does a great job. The other benefit is that the shockcord is easily removable leaving you with a standalone holster and magazine carrier.
So what do I carry? My go to is typically a Hyperion for my Cajunized CZ P-01. I find it extremely comfortable, it conceals great, and the flex helps it to move with my body throughout the day.
